My laboratory focuses on translational research in primary and metastatic tumors of the central nervous system (CNS). Using genomic and transcriptomics, we have discovered novel molecular drivers and clinically actionable mutations in a number of brain tumors including meningiomas, craniopharyngiomas and brain metastases. With the use of genomics, single cell transcriptomics, and in vitro and in vivo assays of metastasis, we characterize evolutionary patterns that drive metastatic brain tumors with the goal to identify why cancers spread to and grow within the brain. We have translated findings to national innovative biomarker-driven trials that are showing promising results in the clinic; tissue samples from these trials are characterized using a number of techniques to identify biomarkers of response and resistance to therapy.
